Erwin Herman Weinrich, 90, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Saturday March 27, 2010 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Erwin was born in Uniontown, MO and was the son of the late Herman and Louise Weinrich. He spent most of his childhood years in St. Peter, IL. He and his wife retired and lived in Palm Coast, FL for many years before moving to Harrisonburg in September 2002.
Erwin attended Condordia Teacher’s College in River Forest, IL and received his Master’s Degree from William Patterson College in Wayne, NJ. He was a math and social studies teacher at the junior high school level for forty-six years and was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg. The greatest joy in Erwin’s life was spending time with his four sons especially since his wife’s passing. Erwin believed that since childhood that Jesus Christ had saved him from his sins. Because of that, one week prior to his death he professed that he knew he was going to Heaven.
In 1946 he married his wife of sixty-two years, Ann Elizabeth Weinrich who preceded him in death on July 17, 2008.
Survivors include four sons, Brian Erwin Weinrich of Manassas Park, VA, Alan Jeffrey Weinrich of Wyoming, OH, Jonathan Andrew Weinrich of Mount Tabor, NJ and Timothy Marc Weinrich of Somerset, NJ; four grandchildren; four nieces and two nephews and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg, VA on Thursday April 1, 2010 at 11am with the Rev. David Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater. .
