Erwin Herman Weinrich

Erwin Herman Weinrich, 90, of Harrisonburg, VA, died Saturday March 27, 2010 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.  Erwin was born in Uniontown, MO and was the son of the late Herman and Louise Weinrich.   He spent most of his childhood years in St. Peter, IL.  He and his wife retired and lived in Palm Coast, FL for many years before moving to Harrisonburg in September 2002.

Erwin attended Condordia Teacher’s College in River Forest, IL and received his Master’s Degree from William Patterson College in Wayne, NJ.  He was a math and social studies teacher at the junior high school level for forty-six years and was a member of Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg.  The greatest joy in Erwin’s life was spending time with his four sons especially since his wife’s passing.  Erwin believed that since childhood that Jesus Christ had saved him from his sins.  Because of that, one week prior to his death he professed that he knew he was going to Heaven.

In 1946 he married his wife of sixty-two years, Ann Elizabeth Weinrich who preceded him in death on July 17, 2008.

Survivors include four sons, Brian Erwin Weinrich of Manassas Park, VA, Alan Jeffrey Weinrich of Wyoming, OH, Jonathan Andrew Weinrich of Mount Tabor, NJ and Timothy Marc Weinrich of Somerset, NJ; four grandchildren; four nieces and two nephews and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg, VA on Thursday April 1, 2010 at 11am with the Rev. David Nelson officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater.                     .

Memorial contributions may be made to Muhlenberg Lutheran Church, 281 East Market Street, Harrisonburg, VA  22801 or to Bridgewater Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 285, Bridgewater, VA  22812.

Uncle Erwin
Uncle Erwin was really a classy guy. My father and he were very
close, especially while growing up. Their love of sports trickled down to my
siblings and me.

May he enjoy a restful, peaceful eternity in the arms of
Jesus. I'm sure he was quite excited to see Auntie Anne, grandma and grandpa,
Dad, Uncle Wally, and Aunt Norma.

To Anne and Erwin sons
I am so sorry to read of your Dad's passing. It was
comforting to read that he knew he was going to heaven-- although he will be
missed. I knew them when they lived on Lanier Dr. Matter of fact I spent a lot
of time cleaning for them. Your Mom and I talked on the phone often. I miss
Anne and I will miss your Dad too.

I read of your dad's passing in today's paper and was immediately reminded of he
being my teacher in junior high almost forty years ago. He was loved and
respected by all his students as he brought so much to us each day. May he rest
in peace.

St Timothy Lutheran Church, Wayne, NJ
To Brian, to Alan, to Jonathan, and to
Timothy with sadness yet with warm and
gentle smiles remembering happy
days with your Dad nd Mother, and with
each
of you at St.Timothy in Wayne, N.J. It was a busy, busy houshold with
six
school schedules, church activities, and the myriad interests of
all the
Weinrichs. Dear Erwin was ever
calm, always smiling wih a lilt in his
voice.
Your parents glowed when speak-ing of you as they so often did. Thank you for
the joy you brought to thei lives.
We are thankful for the years and for
the
memories we share. May God comfort you in your loss.
