Yvonne Blanche Strickler, 69, of Elkton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at her home.
Mrs. Strickler was born Feb. 29, 1940, in the Jollett area of Elkton, Va., and was the daughter of the late Bennie E. and Viola Lam M eadows.
Yvonne attended the Jollett area school and Shenandoah High School. She was a homemaker and had previously been employed with Sancar Corp. and Dollar General. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cats.
On May 8, 1959 she married Freddie W. Strickler, who survives. Also surviving are her daughter, Debbie D. Strickler of Elkton; one brother, Sheldon Meadows of Elkton; her sister, Maxine Dove of Elkton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilton Meadows and Page Meadows.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends today (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
