Julianne Facknitz of Massanetta Springs died at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community Friday, Dec. 18, 2009.
Born Julianne Marie Fraser to Helen and Grant Fraser April 25, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., she attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she met her husband, Konrad Facknitz, who preceded her in passing in October 2001.
A resident of Virginia since 1998, she was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Harrisonburg and was active in their health ministry in the surrounding area.
She is survived by her three children, Ann Harris, Mark Facknitz, and Katie Zurcher; her grandchildren, Caroline, Joanna, Paul, Hannah, Alice, and Elizabeth; her great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Annika, Isaiah, and Charles; and her half sister, Janet Ross.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian at 725 South Ave. and High St. in Harrisonburg, VA 22801 on Dec. 31, 2009, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, Julianne requested donations be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, Harrisonburg, which will use them in support of the Tembisa Child Academy of South Africa.
