Donald Eugene Suter, 77, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Don was born April 17, 1932, in Harrisonburg to the late C. Justice and Della Weaver Suter.
He spent his entire life in Harrisonburg.
In November 1955, he married the love of his life, Jean Suter, they were married 54 years.
Don is survived by his wife, Jean; three children, Peggy Hatton and husband, Dale, of Campbellsville, Ky., Curtis Suter and wife, Susan, of Helena, Mont., and Randy Suter and wife, Linda, of Hull, Mass. There are five grandchildren, Jason of Louisville, Ky., Sean and wife, Faith, of Campbellsville, Ky., Ryan of Springfield, Mass., Michael and Christopher, both of Hull, Mass.; one niece and one nephew.
He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Showalter.
Don worked for several companies and in 1974 started with ComSonics Inc. for 15 years as Controller. Then in 1989, he worked as Chief Financial Officer for SEI Technology and retired in 1996. He worked hard to provide for his family and they had many great adventures traveling to the mountains and camping. Don always said life was too short to be upset over the small trials and tribulations. He retained his sense of humor to the end of his life and his teasing and hearty laughter will be sorely missed.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home and Crematory in Harrisonburg with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating.
The family will receive for visitation on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
